Inspection and maintenance of heating systems is
compulsory acc. to the Energy Saving Ordinance [Ger-
many], EN 806 and DIN 1988-8 (
a
: ÖNORM B 8131)
[or local regulations].
Regular maintenance and cleaning ensures trouble-
free, energy efficient and environmentally responsible
heating operation. Your heating system must be serv-
iced and cleaned by an authorised contractor at least
every 2 years. In this regard, we recommend arranging
an
inspection and maintenance contract
with your
heating contractor.
Boiler
Increasing boiler contamination raises the flue gas
temperature and thereby increases energy losses. The
boiler should therefore be thoroughly cleaned by a
heating contractor twice a year.
Pellet store
As dust builds up in the pellet store, your heating sys-
tem becomes more prone to faults.
Over time, pellet dust accumulates in the lower part of
the pellet store and can cause faults in the fuel supply.
Wood pellets of inferior quality with an increased per-
centage of fines cause increased accumulations of
dust in the storage room. However, fines are also pro-
duced by the mechanical stresses that wood pellets
are subjected to during transport and injection (injec-
tion pressure, installations, etc.) into the storage room.
Cleaning the pellet storage room regularly will ensure
trouble-free, energy efficient and environmentally
responsible heating operation. Before every second or
third delivery, we recommend emptying out the pellet
storage room completely and cleaning it. Your pellet
storage room must be cleaned by an authorised con-
tractor at least every 2 years.
DHW cylinder (if installed)
Standards DIN 1988-8 and EN 806 specify that main-
tenance and cleaning should be carried out no later
than 2 years after commissioning and as required
thereafter.
Only a qualified heating contractor should clean the
inside of a DHW cylinder and the DHW connections.
If any water treatment equipment (such as a sluice or
injection system) is installed in the cold water supply of
the DHW cylinder, ensure this is refilled in good time.
For this, observe the manufacturer's instructions.
Additionally, for DHW cylinders with a sacrificial anode:
We recommend that the correct function of the sacrifi-
cial anode is checked annually by your heating con-
tractor. The function of the sacrificial anode can be
checked without interrupting the system operation. The
heating contractor will check the earth current with an
anode tester.
Safety valve (DHW cylinder)
The function of the safety valve must be checked
every six months by the user or a contractor through
venting (see valve manufacturer's instructions). The
valve seat may become soiled.
Water may drip from the safety valve during a heat-up
process. The outlet is open to the atmosphere.
!
Please note
Overpressure can cause damage.
Do not close the safety valve.
Thermally activated safety valve
The system user or heating contractor must check the
thermally activated safety valve function annually by
venting. There is a risk of the valve seat becoming
soiled.
