Viega PureFlow Press Washing
Machine and Ice Maker Boxes
Viega products are designed to be
installed by licensed and trained plumbing
and mechanical professionals who are
familiar with Viega products and their installation.
Installation by non-professionals may void
Viega LLC’s warranty.
1
A. Stud
B. Face plate
C. Backing board fastened between studs
D. Valve outlet
E. Solvent cement drain connection
F. Viega PureFlow press
G. PureFlow tube
H. Wall material
2
If installing the washing machine box, clip the
mounting brackets into the box (the icemaker box
has built in mounting brackets). Position the box
between studs at the desired height.
3
Use two nails or screws per bracket to secure
the outlet box to the front of the studs. On the
washing machine boxes, if necessary, cut or
punch opening on the bottom of the box for the
2" plastic drain tube and solvent cement tube
connection.
4
Prepare PureFlow tubing by squaring off to proper
length. Uneven, jagged, or irregular cuts will
produce unsatisfactory connections.
5
Insert PureFlow tubing into the attached PureFlow
press sleeve on the valve(s).
6
Ensure that the tube is fully inserted by visually
confirming that is appears in the view holes in
PureFlow press sleeve. Full insertion means tubing
must be completely visible in at least two view
holes and partially visible in the one.
7
Position the PureFlow press tool perpendicular
over the press sleeve, resting it against the tool
locator ring. Make sure the PureFlow press tool is
properly aligned (see step 9 if it is not).
Store Fire Rated outlet boxes in a cool, dry
place and out of direct sun exposure.
WARNING!
Do not install two boxes back to back.
WARNING!
The connection is not leakproof when
the tool has been opened by emergency
release. The tool locator ring must be present to
ensure a proper PureFlow Press connection.
CAUTION!
Do not press twice!
The tool locator ring must be in the factory
installed position while making a press to
ensure a consistent leakproof connection.
It may be necessary to rotate the tool locator ring
to avoid interference between the ring and tool.
8
Close the PureFlow press tool handles, using the
trigger to reduce the grip span if desired.
9
If the PureFlow press tool is not properly aligned
with the locator ring, use the emergency release
(using a screw driver to turn the emergency
release) to open the press tool. Once released,
align the PureFlow press tool properly and go
back to step 7.
10
Extend the PureFlow press tool handle and
continue ratcheting until automatic tool release
occurs at the proper compression force.
11
When installing drywall, cut an opening (6⅝" W x
7
1
/
16
" H for the washing machine box and 5¼" W
x 5¼" H for the ice maker box). Any gap between
the drywall and the side of the box must be filled
with drywall compound.
12
Push face plate into the box until the plate is flush
against the wall material.
