INSTRUCTIONS FOR
INSTALLATION AND OPERATION

MODEL

 AND

 PRESSURIZED ENVIRONMENTAL

HOUSINGS

 INTRODUCTION

The information in this instruction manual covers the
installation, operation, and maintenance of the

 18

and

 Pressurized Environmental Housings.

This equipment must be installed by a qualified techni-

cian in conformance with national, state, and local elec-

trical codes. Read these instructions through completely
before attempting installation.

Model

is a pressurized housing suitable for

both indoor and outdoor installations. The housing is

designed to accommodate a variety of small CCD cam-
eras with appropriate lenses. It is constructed of seam-

less aluminum tubing, and the front window is made of
tempered glass. The

 housing is available in two

lengths. The

is 18.7 inches long (47.5 cm),

the

is 24.7 inches (62.7 cm) long. The term

is used in this manual to refer to both models

unless specifically stated otherwise.

This pressurized housing is designed to meet military

specifications for resistance to destructive environ-
mental forces. See Product Specification 787 for the
exact military standard specifications such as tempera-
ture, moisture, and various environmental factors.

The

includes a low pressure sensor switch that

activates when the pressure in the housing drops below
4 psi. It can be connected to an external alarm, light or
other device to alert operators to the low pressure con-
dition. The pressure switch can be wired for both nor-
mally open (NO) or normally closed (NC) operation.

The housing is equipped with an adjustable mounting
bracket, a slide-out camera platform, and removable end
caps with a

connector on the rear end cap for

ease of installation and service. A fill valve and a
pressure-relief valve, which opens when the pressure
within the housing exceeds 10 psi, are easily accessible.

Model

 is supplied with a thermostatically-con-

trolled heater that turns on when internal temperature
falls below 68” F (20” C). The heater provides 80 watts
of heating power. A humidity indicator, which changes
color if humidity level in the housing changes, is visible
through the window. Sunshields, Model

 18-S

and

 are available as optional accessories.

The housings comply with NEMA 6 standards and IEC
Classification IP67.
