5.12.6 Monitoring
The VPCMA-70 is typically monitored and managed using its front
panel or by an external SNMP Manager over the Ethernet port located
on the rear panel of the VPCMA-70. The VPCMA-70 supports prorietary
PCMAHC SNMP MIB as well as system and interface groups of the MIB-
II.
After initially configuring the SYSTEM network access parameters, the
VPCMA-70 may be operated remotely using an external SNMP Manager
loaded on a computer that is connected to the VPCMA-70 Ethernet
connector on the rear panel.
To operate in this manner, perform the following procedures.
1.
Ensure the SNMP Manager software is loaded and
operational on the external machine.
2.
Ensure the Support PC is connected properly.
3.
Turn on the VPCMA-70 using the
I - O
rocker switch on
the rear panel near the power cord connection.
4.
Observe the POWER LED lights. After about 30 seconds,
the front panel display should show the SYSTEM Menu
and all front panel LEDs should momentarily light and
then go off. LEDs remaining on indicate the function is
active.
5.
Using the front panel controls, ensure the correct
SYSTEM parameters are set.
6.
Refer to the SNMP Manager software documentation for
correct operation.
7.
Refer to Table 4-1 of Section 4 of the VPCMA-70 User
Guide for a description of the SNMP MIBs used with the
PCMAHC.
