5.10.5.3 Normal Operation
In normal operation the MCD is accessed and controlled through the
M&C rear Ethernet ports.
5.10.6 Monitoring
5.10.6.1 MCD Management Interfaces
The MCD chassis is typically managed by the ArcLight NMS over the
M&C Ethernet data port (LAN 1). The MCD M&C supports SNMP to
configure the chassis and to monitor its operation. The M&C
communicates with all other chassis components to configure them,
and to obtain their status and statistics. That information is relayed
back to the ArcLight NMS using an MCD SNMP MIB.
Besides SNMP, the M&C also allows Telnet sessions for hands-on
monitoring and debugging. The Telnet approach should only be used by
