PI2500B & M – MODIFIED SINE WAVE POWER INVERTER 2500W 12VDC
ATTENTION – ATTENTION – ATTENTION - ATTENTION
OVERLOADING THIS DEVICE OR CONNECTING IT WITH AN INDUCTIVE LOAD (e.g. refrigerator, fan, drill) WILL DAMAGE
IT AND AUTOMATICALLY VOID THE WARRANTY!!
The warranty automatically becomes void if the user personally tries to repair or modify the device. The warranty also
becomes void in case of damage caused by inappropriate use or the disregard of standard safety prescriptions in
general and those in this manual in particular. VELLEMAN Inc. does not accept responsibility for personal injury
caused by the disregard of the safety instructions in this manual. This also goes for all types of consequential loss.

Important remarks with reference to the use of our 12V (24V)-220V power inverters
1. Connection:
•
Respect the polarity when connecting the supply voltage (red = + / black = -)
•
The supply voltage should not exceed the max. allowed value (e.g. make sure the power inverter is deactivated when you
start your car: starting your car pushes the supply voltage to peak levels that may exceed the max. allowed level).
•
Pay attention to the following when prolonging the power cord:
Use a cable that is at least as thick as the power cable supplied with your power inverter. This also goes for the crocodile
clips. We advise you to use a cable that is thicker than the supplied one (in order to compensate for the voltage loss).
Make sure the extension is not too long.
Do not use a cigarette lighter plug when connecting more than 120W. Doing so may generate too much heat, which may
cause the cables and/or the plug to melt!
2. Power:
•
Do not overload the inverter (the power printed on the housing = max. allowed power level)
•
Make sure that the start-up power of the connected load does not exceed the max. power level of the inverter (the start-up
power is usually greater than the nominal power level, e.g. a 70W television will not start when connected to a PI 150W).
•
The inverter becomes hotter in proportion to the connected load and the duration of that connection. Deactivate the inverter
from time to time in order to let the device cool down. These inverters are not designed for continuous use.
3. Modified sine wave:
Inverters of the PIxxxB, PixxxN, PixxxBN, PixxxMN type (xxx: max. power) all use a
modified sine wave
, viz. a square wave.
There are a number of consequences involved:
•
Do not connect inductive loads
e.g. motor, refrigerator, drill, ...
•
Do not connect switching power supplies
(e.g. power supply for laptop, etc.) in order not to damage that power supply.
•
Measure the output voltage with a true
RMS
multimeter. Other multimeters will record an output voltage of 180V +/- 5%
The retailer and the distributor will not be held responsible for damaged or lost software or damage to a connected device.
Before connecting a device you should make sure that both the voltage and polarity are correct. Do not change either voltage or
polarity during operation. Contact your local retailer when in doubt.
Always read the manual before bringing the device into service!
