Do use either gloves or some other protection to
prevent burns by the friction of the hoops. Never use
the brakes to reduce your speed or to stop. If you do
that you may lose control of the wheelchair or tilt.
Moving (making transfers or changing)
Warning:
If you fail to heed these warnings, it may result in
falling or tilting causing serious personal injuries.
1. Moving requires a proper balance and skill and may
be quite dangerous. Remember that during moving
there is a moment when the wheelchair is not
supporting you.
2. To prevent falling you should:

learn how to position your body and how
to support yourself during moving.
- learn a method for safely moving with
your therapist or competent advisor.

Have someone near you who can help
you until you are sure you can move the
wheelchair safely yourself.
Kerbs and steps
Warning:
Failure to heed these warnings may result in falling or
tilting causing serious injury to you or others.

Never drive up or down a kerb or step unless you
are an experienced wheelchair user and can safely make
a “wheelie” and you are sure you have enough physical
strength in your upper body.
