RFLC Keyfob — MODEL: MKFOB

Overview
The RFLC Keyfob (MKFOB) is a battery
powered, Top Dog™ RF enabled* remote
device, with three programmable buttons.
The Keyfob can be placed on a key-chain or
attached to a car visor or similar surface
using the included visor clip. The unit has
three buttons that can be programmed by assigning Design
Center** tasks. Design Center tasks may be programmed to
control loads, scenes, execute other tasks or procedures, etc.
As with other RFLC products, the operating range between the
Keyfob and the RFLC Enabler is 100 feet. The actual range may
vary according to the type of construction material*** between
the Keyfob and the RFLC enabler. Since the Keyfob uses radio
transmission (as opposed to infrared), line-of-sight is not
necessarily required.

* Top Dog™ Wireless Communication
RFLC wireless devices use radio signals to communicate with
each other via a 900MHz band. Using the “frequency-agile”
TopDog™ technology, these devices avoid interference with
other 900MHz devices, such as RadioLink, cordless phones,
baby monitors, etc.

** Note: If using the keyfob in a

stand-alone

 RFLC project - no

InFusion system - please see the instruction sheet on the
dealer site,

RFLC MKFOBv2 07071r2.pdf

***

Environmental conditions can effect radio transmission.

Obstructions in the “line of site” between radio transceivers may
reduce the range below 100 feet. Some common obstructions
would be: Plaster walls with wire mesh, walls filled with a large
number of high voltage and low voltage wire runs, walls filled with
water pipes, etc. Some applications may require pre-testing for
radio transmission coverage.

System Requirements

One RFLC-V232 (RFLC Enabler) and InFusion System.

This product is compatible with InFusion Design Center,
Systems. For new projects it is recommended that
firmware and software be kept to the most current
release.

Installation
Installation of Vantage products should be performed or
supervised by a

Certified Vantage Installer.

Keyfob Setup Instructions

Prior to setting up the Keyfob:

Install all RFLC enabled wireless devices (dimmers,
switches, plug-in modules, etc.).

Please read the

RFLC Infusion Instructions_install.pdf

information, available online.

Proceed setting up the Keyfob:

Proceed to setup the Keyfob to work with RFLC and
InFusion by simply setting the House ID and programming
the buttons.

Set House ID

All RFLC wireless devices installed in the same system must
acquire the same unique House ID before use*. This process is
known as house binding.

IMPORTANT: Each RFLC system within RF
range must obtain a unique house ID. This
protects systems from cross-talk.

Please refer to the

RFLC Infusion Instructions_install.pdf

information for additional help on house binding for all RFLC
devices except the Keyfob.

* The one exception to this is the Keyfob. Each Keyfob
programmed in Design Center will have a unique house ID.
This allows each Keyfob on the project to be programmed
independently.

Obtaining A Unique Keyfob House ID

IMPORTANT: Before programming the keyfob be sure that
all RFLC devices have a solid green LED. It is important that
all other RFLC devices on the system already have a house
ID before proceeding with step 1 below.

1.

Momentarily press any button on the MKFOB. The LED
should be solid amber (a combination of the green and
red LEDs) and should remain lit for about one minute.

a.

The Keyfob may need to be factory reset to its
default mode, aka “Mode-1”. To factory reset the
Keyfob (hold buttons 1 and 2 for ten seconds until it
is solid amber, and then release the buttons).

2.

Initiate binding on the MKFOB by pressing the top two
buttons until the MKFOB's LED flashes amber (about 2
seconds). This gives the Keyfob its own unique ID.

3.

Once the LED flashes, stop the binding process by
pressing the top two buttons until the MKFOB's LED turns
solid amber (about 2 seconds).

4.

If the LED on the MKFOB is still lit when you complete the
previous step, it turns green when it receives the House ID.

a.

If the LED on the MKFOB is not lit, press and hold
any button until the LED turns green indicating that
it received the House ID.

Programming The Keyfob In Design Center
1.

Design and program projects in Design Center, version 3.0
or later.

2.

Put Design Center in Configuration Mode, highlight the
Keyfob and triple press any Keyfob button.

3.

Select the Keyfob object in Design Center. The Keyfob has
three buttons that may be assigned to InFusion tasks.
Program each button as you would a button on a station.

Lock Keyfob
Locking the MKFOB prevents it from being inadvertently reset
to factory defaults. Lock the Keyfob after configuring in Design
Center.

To Lock:

Start a binding from the MKFOB (simultaneously press
and hold button 1 and 2 until the LED starts flashing
amber).

Press and hold buttons 1 and 3 until the LED blinks red.

Press and hold button 1 and 2 to terminate the process.
