Care and Maintenance
In order to make accurate and repeatable measurements, the sensor window must be kept clean.
Cleaning the optical window should be performed using warm soapy water and optical tissue, then
rinsed with clean water. No abrasives should be used
Organic solvents should not be used to clean the Hyperion
Strong acids and bases should be avoided
If fouling of the window is considerable, the unit should be returned to Valeport for servicing
The instrument should be washed in fresh water before storage in the equipment case.
9.1
Fitting a Sensor Guard
The sensor guard fits over the sensor end cap of the Hyperion in order to reduce the chances of
the senor window being damaged by impact against a hard surface.
Slide the guard over the sensor endcap and ensure it is lined up correctly as shown below
–
you
should be able to see the instrument serial number through the
opening
in the guard.
Now gently push the securing cord into the slot at the base of the guard and using a pair of pliers
push the cord through the slot and around the Hyperion housing, ensuring that it is contained
within the groove on the inside of the guard.
It is very tight and difficult to get all the way around the Hyperion housing. A spot of silicone grease
will help.
If the cord is inserted by 30mm, that is enough to hold the guard in place. Trim the cord so it fills
but is contained within the slot to prevent snagging. You will need the tail to pull the cord out if the
guard has to be removed.
