CHAPTER 5
DIAGNOSTICS
This chapter contains instructions for monitoring the system operation
with the Diagnostics application.
Introduction to Diagnostics
The Diagnostics application monitors the overall status of the AviMet
system, including the following:
-
It shows the status of the CDU(s), enables changing the switch-over
mode and the active CDU.
-
It displays system events.
-
It displays the status of all AviMet processes, applications, and ROA
objects.
-
It provides access to other AviMet maintenance applications.
-
Optionally, it contains a graphical overview displaying the statuses of
all devices in the system.
If the system includes a log printer, all events can be configured to be
printed automatically as they occur. Optionally, the Diagnostics
application can include the sound alarm function.
NOTE
Before reading this chapter, find out the system event monitoring
practices at your airport. Diagnostics is a tool primarily intended for
maintenance personnel. At some airports, the task of monitoring events
belongs either completely or partially to observers.
