3.1.2.10 Timing Settings
URC recommends using the default Timing Settings unless changes are necessary due to the
presence of multiple clients or systems.
If desired or needed for external communications, the Timing settings can be adjusted. This is
typically only necessary if additional systems will be connected to the Smart 1-Line. Otherwise, the
recommended default settings are shown below.
NOTE: Improper adjustment of Timing Settings can result in communications issues.
Scan Period:
Adjusts how frequently the Smart 1-Line requests data from each trip unit. For example, if this
setting is set to 10 seconds, the information for each breaker will be requested (and should be
updated) every 10 seconds.
Trip Unit Response Timeout:
Adjusts how long the Smart 1-Line will wait for a reply from each trip unit.
Number of Retries per Request:
Adjusts how many times the Smart 1-Line will retry a data request before determining that the trip
unit is not responding.
If Trip Unit Does Not Respond:
Scan Periods to Stop Trying:
Adjusts how many consecutive unsuccessful scan periods can occur before the Smart 1-Line will
temporarily stop making requests to a trip unit.
Resume Trying After:
Applies after the above number of “Scan Periods to Stop Trying” has been met. Adjusts the duration
after which the Smart 1-Line will re-attempt requests to a trip unit.
