3. Break
At the end of pulling, the differential brake automatically engages.
The brake is factory
set to the braking force, which is 25% higher than the rated pulling force of the winch. As
the braking padding is wearing down, the braking force is changing and you have to
reset it periodically. This is required when the brake does not hold the burden as
described in the beginning of this paragraph. The braking force is adjusted by loosening
or tightening the screw
(pos. 2, figure 11) after you have loosened the locking nut (pos. 3,
figure 11). Tightening the screw (pos 2, figure 11
decreases the braking force, while
loosening increases it. After the adjustment is completed, tighten the locking nut (pos. 3,
figure 11). C
orrectly adjusted frictional brake in the engaged position prevents the burden
from sliding backwards, while in the disengaged position it allows for an uninterrupted
drawing of the rope from the winch.
