Chapter 7: Field Service Components

7.6.2

Replacing the CPU Fan 

To Replace the CPU Fan Assembly: 

1.

Open the front block/ultrasound module (

7.5.2

). 

2.

Disconnect any cables that may be in the way. 

3.

Locate the CPU fan assembly (with heat sink) and unlatch the two gray retention clips to remove it. 

4.

If the new CPU fan assembly comes with thermal compound, remove any excess thermal compound found on
the CPU. 

5.

Replace the CPU fan assembly and latch the two gray retention clips. 

6.

Reconnect the cables (

7.5.4

) and close the front block/ultrasound module (

7.5.5

). 

Warning: 

Do not perform any internal system maintenance if the UPS breakers are turned on. 

Caution: 

Always wear a grounding strap when opening and working inside the modulo. 

Caution: 

Be careful not to use excessive force as you may damage the hooks that keep the CPU fan

assembly in place. 

Note: 

It may be necessary to pivot the CPU fan from top to bottom in order to remove it.
