6. Preventative Maintenance and Cleaning
The HS-18 RAHD is a multi-environment device. As a result, maintenance should be performed
based upon the conditions that exist where the unit is in use. The following preventive
maintenance actions are the minimum methods needed to keep the unit functioning at optimal
capacity.
Remember to always inspect the HS-18 RAHD before powering up the unit. Also, check all cables
for frays, tears, and rips. If a cable is damaged, do not use it. If the unit or cables require service
beyond the methods described in this section, refer to the warranty information in Section 8.
6.1. Ground Operations and Sandy Environments
Monthly: Point the HS-18 RAHD with the front facing the ground. Gently tap and shake the unit
to remove sand that may have entered during normal operation. For severely clogged units, a
vacuum can be used.
Place the hose directly against the unit’s emitter head. Wipe down all
painted surfaces and cannon plugs/connectors with a lint-free cloth soaked in clean water.
Perform these measures monthly or as needed to ensure a long operational life.
6.2. Salt Water Environments
Weekly:
Wipe down all painted surfaces and cannon plugs/connectors with a lint-free cloth
soaked in clean water. Perform this task weekly and after inclement weather.
WARNING:
LIFE-THREATENING ELECTRIC SHOCK OR DEATH BY ELECTROCUTION.
100 - 250 VAC IS PRESENT WHEN ENERGIZED.
TEMPORARY OR PERMANENT HEARING DAMAGE MAY OCCUR.
HIGH LEVEL OF SOUND CAN BE EMITTED.
Always disconnect power from the unit before performing any maintenance.
CAUTION:
HS-18 RAHD CAN BE DAMAGED BY PRESSURIZED AIR OR PRESSURIZED WATER.
Never use pressurized air or pressurized water to clean the HS-18 RAHD.
