9 External ﬁrmware update and ROM ﬁrmware
evaluation

The EVK-M91 is delivered with the latest version of ﬁrmware. By default the EVK will boot from the
external ﬂash. It is also possible to boot from the ROM ﬁrmware on the EVK-M91. To test the ROM
ﬁrmware, the ﬂash ﬁrmware needs to be erased.

This section describes how to update the external ﬂash ﬁrmware if needed. Subsequently, this
section also shows how to erase the ﬁrmware on the ﬂash of EVK-M91 if required for evaluation and
boot the EVK-M91 from the ROM ﬁrmware.

To view the currently installed ﬁrmware, connect via USB to u-center and poll UBX-MON-VER, as
shown in

To update the ﬂash ﬁrmware or to revert to booting from external ﬂash ﬁrmware from ROM, follow
the instructions below
