Removing and refitting the main module

Caution!

-

Both models: When replacing the main module, ensure the correct module is used (the module for

XRS and SRS models are different).

-

  XRS EID Stick Reader only:

Replacing the main module will cause all data to be lost. Ensure all

data is transferred to a PC using EziLink before changing the battery. Back-up data must be
burned to CD ROM or DVD and supplied to the customer when the stick reader is returned. See

Backing up customer data

on page 22.

The main module is supplied with the FRP tube and rubber end cap.

To remove the main module:

Open the case. See page 24.

Disconnect the FFC from the main module. See

Using flat flexible circuit (FFC) cables and

connectors

on page 23.

XRS EID Stick Reader only: Carefully disconnect the vibration motor loom.
Both models: Disconnect the power loom.

Manually remove the screw securing the main module to the bottom case.

Figure 6 Location of two looms and main module securing screw

Remove the main module and FRP tube assembly.

Remove the tube gasket as this is re-used. See page 27.

To refit the main module:

Refit the tube gasket to the new FRP tube assembly. See page 27.

Place the main module and FRP tube assembly into the bottom case. Ensure that the tube gasket
is sitting correctly in the bottom case. The interface with the case gasket is critical.  See

Figure

 5

.

Ensure all plastic swarf is removed. Refit the screw securing the main module to the bottom case.
If available, use a torque limited screwdriver set to 0.5 Nm (4 lbf-in).

XRS EID Stick Reader only: Reconnect the vibration motor loom.
Both models: Reconnect the power loom.

Reconnect the FFC to the main module. See

Using flat flexible circuit (FFC) cables and

connectors

on

page 23.

Close the case. See page 24.
