BeatDrop 8 Series Pendant Speakers
Blending modern aesthetics with cutting edge
acoustics, the BeatDrop series speakers are an ideal
choice for any installation where a pendant is
needed. Deep, powerful bass from the 8” woofer
integrates perfectly with the crystal-clear highs
produced by the wide dispersion tweeter.
The BeatDrop is equally beautiful as a traditional
pendant shape or a more modern,
organic-shaped pendant. Once again, TruAudio has
revolutionized the world of light-commercial audio.
Choosing a Location
Before determining placement of your BeatDrop
pendant speakers, you should first determine the
listening area you would like to cover. Thanks to the
generous 110 degree dispersion angle, seamless
sound throughout the listening area is relatively easy
to achieve. The higher the pendant is hung, the
more distance there can be between them and still
achieve even coverage. A good rule of thumb is to
place the pendants approximately twice the
distance apart as they are from the floor. For best
results, keep the pendant away from walls or other
obstructions that may unsuitably reflect the sound.
The BeatDrop is not rated for outdoor use. Do not
install your BeatDrop where it will come in contact
with water, rain or excessive sunlight
Amplifier Selection and Wiring
The BeatDrop pendant speakers can be used with a
traditional 8 ohm amplifier, or with a 70V/100V
amplifier. You would typically choose to use an 8
ohm amplifier when the distance to the pendant is
short (less than 50’). You would typically choose a
70V/100V amplifier when the distance to the
speakers is 50’+, or when you would rather
daisy-chain the speakers instead of wiring each
pendant back to its own amplifier channel.
Each BeatDrop speaker has a switch at the top for
selecting either 8 ohm, or one of several 70V/100V
tap settings. When wiring the pendants to an 8 ohm
amplifier always use the 8 ohm setting on the
pendant, to avoid damage to the amplifier. When
using a 70V/100V amplifier, set the switch position
to the desired tap setting. The tap setting
determines how much wattage each pendant will
draw from the amplifier. When daisy-chaining
multiple pendants, add the combined wattages of all
tap settings to determine the wattage draw on the
amplifier. The combined total wattage should never
exceed the wattage rating of the amplifier.
