Maintenance and Adjustment
Battery Removal
1. Battery
2. Negative (-) terminal
3. Positive (+) terminal
4. Engine control module (ECM)
•
Remove the seat as described in the
General Information section.
•
Disconnect the battery leads,
negative (black) lead first.
•
Remove the battery strap.
•
Take the battery out of the case.
Note:
•
The Engine Control Module (ECM)
is located at the rear of the battery
tray and is secured to the
motorcycle by the battery. Ensure
the ECM is not disturbed during
the battery removal or installation
process.
Battery Maintenance
Clean the battery using a clean, dry cloth. Be
sure that the cable connections are clean.
The battery is a sealed type and will not
require any maintenance other than checking
the Voltage and routine recharging, such as
during storage.
It is not possible to adjust the battery acid
level in the battery; the sealing strip must not
be removed.

Warning
Ensure that the battery terminals do not
touch any part of the motorcycle as this
may cause a short circuit or spark which
would ignite battery gases causing a risk of
personal injury and damage to the
motorcycle.
Warning
The battery acid is corrosive and poisonous
and will cause damage to unprotected
skin. Never swallow battery acid or allow it
to come into contact with the skin. To
prevent injury, always wear eye and skin
protection when handling the battery.
