F-em User Guide
Glide
Enables or disables the Glide effect. “Glide” or “Portamento” describes
the continuous gliding from one note to another. This effect can be
created on fretless stringed instruments or some brass instruments (e.g.
trombone). It is very common on synthesizers and used throughout all
music styles. Please note that Glide affects the pitch of all Operators.
•
Glide Rate
: Determines the glide time. Low values will give a
short glide time in a range of milliseconds that gives a special
character to the sound. High values will result in a long glide
time of up to several seconds which can be useful for solo and
effect sounds.
•
Portamento/Glissando
: If Portamento is activated, a
continuous glide is performed on all new notes. If Glissando is
activated, the Glide effect reacts in the same manner as by
changing the pitch in semitones.
•
Legato
: If activated, a continuous glide is performed only when
notes are played legato. Staccato played notes start on the
exact pitch of their note.
5.13 The Macros Tab
Here you find two Pad controllers and Macro dials and slider.
The pad controllers let you drastically change the sound of the selected
Instrument. Use the green point to freely move it in X and Y axis. You
can assign the X and Y axis sources independently in the Sources tab.
The 5 sliders control the overall Level envelopes and Effect levels of all
Layers. These parameters can also be found at the bottom of the
Loading page. Keep in mind, that the macro parameters produce an
offset to the original settings. For example, if all Level envelopes are
have an Attack of 0, a negative setting of the Macro Attack dial won’t
produce any result.
There are two dials to control the overall Timbre and Feedback.

The Macro slider parameters can also be found at the bottom of
the Browser page.
