How to upgrade a TP-Link Switch?
This guide suit for all the TP-Link Switch which have new VI (Vision Interface) with
different logo and blendent like below.
Notice:
Please verify the
hardware version
of your device for the
firmware version
. You
can find the label at the bottom of the devices as shown below. The two different
label
V2
and
Ver: 2.0
both stand for the
version 2
. Please be attention,
wrong firmware upgrading may damage your device and void the warranty.
According to your device version, download the correct firmware from the
website. Also you can find the version information like the printscreen below.
After you downloaded the firmware from TP-Link website, please use a
decompression software such as WinZIP or WinRAR to extract the firmware file to
a folder, and remember the path you store it;
Do
NOT turn off the power
or
cut down the Ethernet cable
during upgrade process;
Please have a backup and enter them manually after upgrading if you need save
the pervious configuration.
We suggest using
Internet Explorer (IE)
to upgrade the firmware. (Other explorer
like Firefox and Chrome are also alright.)
Step 1
Connect the PC to the switch. As default, the management IP of our switch is
192.168.0.1, so we must keep the PC’s IP in the subnet of 192.168.0.0 unless
you have changed it before. Set the IP address of your PC to
192.168.0.2-254
(eg.192.168.0.100), set subnet mask to
255.255.255.0.
