Optical disc drive
The computer is configured with a DVD Super Multi drive. A
USB
interface controller is used for CD/DVD-ROM operation. When the
computer is accessing a CD/DVD, an indicator on the drive glows.
For information on loading and unloading discs refer to the
Using the
optical disc drive section in Chapter 4, Operating Basics .
Region codes for DVD drives and media
DVD Super Multi drives and their associated media are manufactured
according to the specifications of six marketing regions. When you
purchase DVD-Video, make sure it matches your drive, otherwise it will not
play properly.
Writable discs
This section describes the types of writable CD/DVD discs. Check the
specifications of your drive to see the types of discs it can write. Use
TOSHIBA Disc Creator and Ulead DVD MovieFactory
® to write compact
discs. Refer to Chapter 4, Operating Basics .
CAPS LOCK This indicator glows green when letter keys are
locked into their uppercase format.
Arrow Mode When the Arrow Mode indicator lights green,
you can use the gray labeled keys on the keypad
overlay as cursor keys. Please refer to the
Keypad overlay section in Chapter 5, The
Keyboard , for more information.
Numeric Mode When the Numeric Mode indicator lights green,
you can use the gray labeled keys on the keypad
overlay for number entry. Please refer to the
Keypad overlay section in Chapter 5, The
Keyboard , for more information.
