Connecting Components

Adding an IDE hard disk drive

Press the latches on the sides of the drive carrier, then slide the carrier out of the
server chassis.

Removing the drive carrier

Remove the 3.5-inch shield cover from the drive carrier and store it for possible
reuse.

Removing the drive shield

Loosen the eight screws that secure the FDD and HDD to the drive carrier. There
are four screws on each side, two per unit.

Screw locations on the drive carrier

CAUTION: When removing the drive carrier, be careful not to tangle system cables
or touch any installed memory modules.
