Engine Safety

Shut off the engine before checking the oil or
adding oil to the crankcase.
•
Do not change the governor speed or overspeed
the engine.
Engine Oil Specification
Use high-quality engine oil that meets the following
specifications:
API classification level:
SJ or higher
Oil Viscosity:
SAE 30—above 4°C (40°F)

Before each use or daily
Note:
The engine is shipped with oil in the crankcase;
however, you must check the oil level before and after
you first start the engine.

Prepare the machine for maintenance; refer to

Remove the hood; refer to

3.
Clean around the dipstick and dipstick tube.
4.
Remove the dipstick (
) and wipe it with
a clean rag.
