8 Scanning
8.1 Target Scanning
Target scanning is necessary to coordinate positional information of multiple 3D scanning in the after-
processing of the data.
It is therefore necessary to set the target so that it is also visible from the next station.
Place the target on or near the scanning object, and perform the scanning.
Example of Settings: Targets from pt01 to pt03 are to be scanned.

scan menu.

target name.

The only target you can use is Topcon target sheets.
z
In order to coordinate positional information of the data, scanning data on 3 or more targets is
needed. Set targets at 3 or more locations where it is possible to collimate from each station.
z
3D data cannot be obtained where the target sheets are placed, so avoid putting them on
important scanning locations.
z
Do not set the targets on a straight line. Also, spread out the targets equally so that they can cover
the 3D scanning area fully.
z
Use the appropriate target sheets depending on the scanning distance. Refer to Chapter 4.8.1
“Selecting the Target Sheet”.
