Final Drive – disassembly.

 

Final Drive – disassembly.

 

After removing the final drive from vehicle, make 

sure that you re install the final drive nut. This 
will help protect the threads on the housing.   

After removing the final drive from vehicle, make 

sure that you re install the final drive nut. This 
will help protect the threads on the housing.   

 

Lower axle shaft disassembly

 

1.

 

Remove the plug (1) and turn over the final 
drive to let the oil drain out. Remove one of 
the cover bolts to let the air in. 

 

 

 

2.

 

After draining the oil turn over and remove all 
the bolts that hold the final drive cover. 

 

3.

 

Remove the cover and gasket.   

 

4.

 

Remove the three retainer plates.
