Remove the 2-M6 bolts at the rear of the
water outlet housing. Detach outlet housing
from engine block.

Remove the 2-M6 bolts at the rear of the
water outlet housing. Detach outlet housing
from engine block.
9.
Remove the 4-M8 bolts that attach the water
pump to the engine block. The water pump
can now be removed by pulling straight out
of the block. Clean any gasket material from
the block before reassembly. Install new
pump with a new gasket. Torque the 4-M8
bolts to 30 Nm. Reattach the outlet housing
using a new gasket and torque the 2-M6
bolts to 12 Nm.
Discard the old timing belt regardless of operating hours. Timing belts tend to
“set” during operation and subsequent re-installation will not allow
replacement in identical position as prior.
10.Loosely install the timing belt idler pulley,
washer, and nut onto the tensioner. Install
new timing belt onto pulleys, again using
caution not to upset the timing of the
camshaft and crank pulleys.
11.Setting the timing belt tension requires
special tension tool (1460-049) to be
installed over the tabbed end of the tensioner
assembly. Use a torque wrench at a 90
degree angle to the tab. Set the tensioner
at 20 Nm and tighten the idler nut secure.
Tighten the idler nut to 40Nm. Rotate the
engine in normal direction of rotation 3 full
turns, and repeat tensioning procedure again.
12.Install the timing cover to the engine and
install the 5 hex head screws. Torque
these 10Nm.
