Keypad Prefix Buttons
The same keypad buttons are used to enter values for different functions.
The prefix buttons (
Lock/Learn
,
Seq
,
Effect Dis
,
↑
/
Bank
,
Trans Rate
) determine
which function will be affected by the values entered. Some functions are
nested. For example, within a Learn operation it is possible to specify a
Sequence with the
Seq
prefix button, and within a Sequence it is possible to
specify delays using the
Trans Rate
prefix button. Some of the prefix buttons
also have different modes, selected with the
↑
Bank
button.
When pressed, a prefix button goes high tally to indicate that function has
been selected. Pressing a lit prefix button cancels that operation. The
E-MEM readout prompts the operator when a prefix button is used (except
for

Bank
).
Direct Bank Selection
The four direct bank buttons (
Bank 0
4
- 3
7
) located to the right of the keypad
allow faster access to 8 of the 10 banks. Banks 0 through 3 can be selected
instantly with a single press of the appropriate bank button. Banks 4
through 7 are accessed by pressing the appropriate bank button twice in
rapid succession.
For example, the following button presses will recall a register from bank 1:
Bank 1 5, register number
The following button presses will recall a register from bank 5:

Subsequent single button register selections will be from that new bank
unless another bank is selected before the operation. Direct bank selection
is available on the E-MEM subpanels for Recall, Learn, Sequence, and
Effect Dissolve operations.
Lock/Learn Button
The
Lock/Learn
button has two modes of operation, unshifted and shifted,
determined by the state of the

Bank
button.
When unshifted (

)
the
Lock/Learn
button is used to initiate a
Learn operation that stores the current settings for that M/E level to the
specified register (or learns a sequence or an effect dissolve). A register in
the current bank is learned by simply pressing one of the
0-9
buttons on the
E-MEM keypad after the
Lock/Learn
button has been lit. The
Enter
button is
not used. The procedure is:

The current effect can also be learned to the next empty register using the
Undo/•
button in place of the register number:
