Installing a Flow Cell
This section describes the installation of the flow cell upon initial
installation of the device.
NOTICE
Flow cells are sensitive to dirt and dust. Observe the following notes
when installing the flow cell to the detector:
•
Hold the flow cell by the flow cell handle.
•
To avoid damage and/or contamination of the optical block of the
flow cell, do not touch the optical block.
•
On the rear side of the flow cell, the contact pads for the
identification chip are located. Never touch the contact pads. Avoid
damage to the electronics of the ID chip.
•
The optical ports of the flow cell are sensitive to contamination and
scratches. Do not immerse the optical ports of the flow cell.
•
Particulate matter, dust and debris can lead to contamination and
clogging of the flow cell. If capillaries are removed from the flow cell
inlet and outlet, install protective plugs to close the ports and to
prevent particles from clogging the flow cell in the next application.
Always use the plugs that were installed when the flow cell was
shipped.
NOTICE
Installing a VC or VF flow cell into an UltiMate 3000™ detector may
damage the flow cell.
Install the VC or VF flow cells only into the VC or VF detectors.
NOTICE
Do not open the tubing connections between the connection unit and
the flow cell. The tubing connections are installed at the factory.
Parts required
Flow cell, as required by the application.
Preparations
Unpack the flow cell and keep the packaging for later use.
