S-400 - Spectronic GENESYS 10: Upgrade to Flashable EEPROM
October 2001
REFERENCE:
ECO NA
PROBLEM:
Spectronic GENESYS 10 Spectrophotometers manufactured before December
2000 (Firmware revision 1.030 and earlier) cannot have the firmware updated via
the RS232 serial port).
SYMPTOM/
CAUSE:
The ‘flashable’ ROM was not implemented in the production of the Spectronic
GENESYS 10 until December 2000. The firmware in the units made before this
date can only be upgraded by the physical replacement of the ROM.
SOLUTION:
ROM Upgrade Kits have been developed to upgrade the pre-December 2000 units
to ‘flashable’ ROMs
PRODUCT
AFFECTED:
All Spectronic GENESYS 10 spectrophotometers with Serial Numbers <
###C340### were manufactured with non-flashable ROMs and firmware version
≤
1.030.
(All Spectronic BioMate 3, Spectronic GENESYS 6 and
Spectronic GENESYS 10UV
scanning
spectrophotometers have been manufactured
with the ‘flashable’ ROM)
APPLIES TO:
Repair at customer site
Repair at Depot
There are two part numbers for the Spectronic GENESYS 10 ROM replacement:
335901-735S is the basic ROM replacement kit; it consists of:
•
335901-735 programmed flash EEPROM with the current firmware
•
335901-841 installation sheet (copy appended to this TSB)
335901-740S is the ‘complete’ ROM replacement kit; it consists of:
•
335901-735 programmed flash EEPROM with the current firmware
•
335901-841 installation sheet (copy appended to this TSB)
•
335942-000 RS232 cable
•
335901-741 EPROM Extractor
•
335901-10041 Spectronic GENESYS 10 Service manual CD-ROM, which
includes the diagnostic software, the flash program and the service &
operator manuals
•
333159-000 non-certified didymium filter (for the wavelength calibration)
When upgrading a Spectronic GENESYS 10 spectrophotometer to flash ROM
capability, order the 335901-740S only if you do not already have the didymium filter,
the cable and the Service manual.
If you do have these three items, then the 335901-735S would be the appropriate
part number to order.
The following is a copy of the 335901-841 ROM Installation Sheet:
