1.2.2 General Safety Precautions
Before initial operation of the UCI, make sure that you are familiar with the contents of
this manual.

Replace faulty power cords and communication cables.
•
Use original Dionex spare parts only. Substituting non-Dionex parts or using non-Dionex
accessories may impair the performance of the UCI.

Do not use the UCI in ways other than those described in these
operating instructions

1.3 Intended Use
The UCI is designed to be an interface between the Chromeleon Chromatography
Management System and the modules of a chromatographic system.
Please note that the UCI may be operated only by using Dionex accessories and spare parts
(

page 47) and within its technical specifications (

page 45).
If there is any question regarding appropriate usage, contact Thermo Fisher Scientific before
proceeding.

1.4 Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Note
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class A digital
device, pursuant to part 15 of the U.S. FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide
reasonable protection against harmful interference when the equipment is operated in a
commercial environment. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency
energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instruction manual, may cause
harmful interference to radio communications. Operation of this equipment in a residential
area is likely to cause harmful interference, in which case the user will be required to
correct the interference at his expense.
