3.3.4.2 Separate Network Interface Card
A network connection that is independent of the office LAN is called an instrument LAN.
This kind of connection between the UCI and Chromeleon requires the installation of a
separate network interface card (NIC; called adapter in the operating system) in the server PC.

Follow the installation instructions of the card manufacturer to install the card as
network interface card (Start
→
Settings
→
Control Panel
→
Network
→
Adapters
→
Add).

Click the
Bindings
tab and configure the network adapter for the instrument LAN
(here: [2] 3Com Fast EtherLink XL NIC (3C905B-TX)). First, click the arrow next of
the
Show Bindings for
box and select
all protocols
on the list to verify that the
TCP/IP protocol is installed. Install the TCP/IP protocol if it is not yet installed:
