6.6.6 Method Editor—Scan Mode
The most advanced method of entering scans, Scan Mode gives the user
complete control over all relevant scan settings. Scans from basic and

Time summary
Resulting total scan
time The baseline peak width divided by the number of points desired
across the peak.
SIM time
Total length of all SIM scans for each compound in the list. Equal to
the total scan time unless the method also contains a full scan event
Full Scan
Use full scan with
mass range Specifies if full scan is to be added to
acquisition
Scan time The time spent on the full scan event
Start time The time the system begins scanning
Source CID Accelerates ions into the background gas to
aid in desolvation. Can increase sensitivity or
reduce noise for some analytes. Range: 0-100
V, default: 0 V (no source CID)
Use last tune tube
lens voltage Voltage applied to tube lens after the ion
transfer tube. 0 V – 300 V. Higher values can
aid in desolvation. Lower values can reduce
fragmentation. Can increase sensitivity or
reduce noise for some analytes.
Note: Use 0 to 300 V for positive ions. Use 0
to -300 V for negative ions. Use higher values
for higher masses. If Last Tune is input, the
tube lens will be run with the values stored in
the tune file. Last Tune is the standard way to
run the tube lens.
Fraction Collection
Channel Options
Name The name of the channel for fraction
collection
Scan Filter Based on the scan information entered into
the Scans pane
Target Mass (min) The minimum mass scanned within the scans
range
Target Mass (max) The maximum mass scanned within the scans
range
Acquisition Options
SIM Scan Widths Set the SIM scan widths from 0.1 – 10 amu.
Allow Dwell Time
Prioritization Increases the dwell times for selected scans.
The choices for each scan are Normal or High.
High Priority
Multiplier If using a high dwell time prioritization, set the
multiplier value here.
