The shelving system components, the airbox, the air duct and the cover of the water reservoir can be
removed without any need for tools, leaving only the easily treated, surface-reduced interior container
for cleaning and manual disinfection of the unit.
Glass Door and Optional Gas-Tight Screen
The standard version of the Heracell Vios 160i CR and Heracell Vios 250i CR units is equipped with a
single-piece door made of tempered safety glass.

Due to the significantly smaller cross-section of the openings for accessing the samples, devices that are
equipped with the optional gas-tight screen have a considerably lower contamination hazard and the
recovery times of the incubation parameters are shorter for:
• workspace temperature,
• CO
2
concentration,
• O
2
/N
2
concentration,
• relative humidity.
Gas-tight screens are available as options for both types of products:
• Heracell Vios 160i CR : Threefold gas-tight screen or sixfold gas-tight screen – with or without Cell
Locker System (see Appendix) (see Figure 3-10 ),
• Heracell Vios 250i CR : Sixfold gas-tight screen.
Note Oxidation of copper components:

When exposed to heat and humid air, the copper material of the interior container will oxidize.
This results in a discoloration of the copper components during the test run for checking the device
functions.

Do not remove the oxide layer during routine cleaning as the effect of the copper material is based
on it.
