Components That Require Maintenance
There are only three main components of the DSQ II that require frequent maintenance,
depending on the quantity and types of sample you are running. A frequently used
instrument will, of course, require more maintenance than an instrument that is rarely used.
• Ion Source
• Ion Detector
• Rotary-Vane Pump
There are many more components in the DSQ II that do not require maintenance, but may
need to be replaced in the event that there is a problem with the instrument. These
components are described in "

To perform maintenance on a DSQ II system, you will need the following tools:
• • Gas, clean and dry
• • Gloves, clean, lint- and powder-free
• • Gloves, latex, impermeable
• • Lint-free cloth or paper
• • Nut driver, 5.5 mm
• • Protective eyewear
• • Screwdriver, Phillips #2
• • Screwdriver, flat blade
• • Wrench, adjustable
• • Wrench, Allen, 2 mm, 2.5 mm, 3 mm, 4 mm, 5/32-in., 5/64-in., 1/16-in.
• • Wrench, open-ended, 1/4-in., 5/16-in., 7/16-in. (two) 1/2-in., 9/16-in.
• • Wrench, socket, 1/2-in.
