Mass assignment is unstable.
Possible Solutions
• The RF and DC have not stabilized. Allow the instrument to scan for about 1 min.
• There is a problem with the RF or DC. See
Signal response is unstable or shows unexpected drop-out.
Possible Solutions
• Autosampler rinse vials have septum pieces in them, which can clog or change the
amount of sample in the syringe. Use aluminum foil instead of septa for the rinse vials.
Special Teflon caps are also available for the AI/AS 3000 Series and the Tri-Plus.
• There is a problem with the filament or lens control. See
.
• There is an air leak. Check for leaks. See
.
• There is a high vacuum problem. See
.
• There is a contamination problem. See
.
• Dust has collected in the electron multiplier or on the conversion dynode. Blow clean,
dry gas on the electron multiplier and conversion dynode.
Tuning Symptoms
Tuning symptoms may be the result of a incorrectly adjusted manual control parameter. You
should suspect a tuning problem when an automatic tune fails. Automatic tune performs
several functions and symptoms or error messages indicate different problems. A tuning
symptom can usually be found by running diagnostics in the
DSQ II Tune
software.
Automatic Tune reports “Cannot perform RF frequency calibration”.
Possible Solutions
There is a problem with the RF control system. See
