To connect the inlet and outlet tubing to the detector
1. Remove the plugs from the IN and OUT ports on the front panel of the Accela RI
Detector. Keep the plugs.
2. Connect one end of the 0.005 in. ID × 1/16 in. OD stainless steel inlet tubing supplied
in the accessory kit to the IN port as (
).
3. Do one of the following:
• If the Accela RI Detector is the only detector in the system, connect the other end of
the inlet tubing to the outlet of the LC column (
• If the Accela RI Detector is the second detector in the system, connect the other end
of the inlet tubing to the outlet of the flow cell of the first detector (
4. Connect the 3/32 in. OD × 0.060 in. ID Teflon outlet tubing to the OUT port.
5. Connect the other end of the outlet tubing to a waste bottle.
CAUTION
Because the flowcell in the Accela RI Detector cannot withstand a
backpressure greater than 517 kPa (75 psi), the detector must be the last component
in the solvent path of the LC system. Do not connect another detector, backpressure
regulator, or narrow-bore tubing to the OUT port of the Accela RI Detector.
