Installation and Operation

• How to install a memory module, PCI or AGP graphics card, lithium battery,
removable SCSI hard-disk drive, dual-fan housing, and power supply
• Rack-mount brackets and slide-hole dimensions
• How to turn the RES-32XEL SMP Server/Workstation on and off

Installation Procedures
To install or replace a removable SCSI
hard-disk drive
or
power supply

next section and proceed directly to page 2-6 or page 2-12, respectively. Replace-
ment of motherboard components require removal of the chassis protective cover.
2.1.1
Remove Protective Top Cover
To access a motherboard component, open the RES-32XEL as follows:
Caution:
Use industry-standard ESD grounding techniques when handling all
components. Wear an antistatic wrist strap and use an ESD-protected mat. Store
ESD-sensitive components in antistatic bags before placing them on any surface.
Handle all IC cards by the front panel or edges only.
