Reel Motors
Removal and Installation
NOTE
See Chapter 8—Cutting Units for reel motor service
information. (See “Reel Drive Motor” on page 8-24.)
Lift Valve
Removal and Installation
1.
Park the mower safely. (See “Park Mower Safely” on
page 1-6.)
2.
Remove the operator platform.
3.
Drain hydraulic oil tank. (See “Hydraulic Oil Tank—
Drain Procedure” on page 6-49.)
4.
Thoroughly clean the valve, especially the area
surrounding the hydraulic hoses, tubes, and fittings.

NOTE
Label connectors before disconnecting to ensure correct
installation.
5.
Disconnect electrical connectors from solenoids (1).
NOTES
• Label hydraulic hoses to aid in installation.
• Close all openings with caps or plugs to prevent
contamination.

Disconnect right front cylinder hoses (2 and 3).
7.
Disconnect center cylinder hoses (4 and 5).

Disconnect left front cylinder hoses (6 and 7).
9.
Disconnect rear cylinder tubes (

and 9).
10. Remove eight straight fittings (10).
11. Remove four one-way orifice plates (11).
12. Remove four one-way orifice fittings (12)

13. Disconnect pressure hose (13) and return hose (14).
14. Disconnect return tube (15).
15. Remove three straight fittings (16)
16. Remove two screws (17), lock washers (1

) and flat
washers (19).
17. Remove lift valve (20).
Installation Notes
• Install the lift valve by reversing the order of removal.
• Make sure new O-rings are in place before installing
hoses on fittings.
• Tighten straight fittings (16) to 40 lb-ft (54 N·m).
• Tighten steering valve hoses and return tube (13, 14
and 15) to 33 lb-ft (45 N·m).
• Tighten one way orifice fittings (12) to 17 lb-ft (23
N·m).
• Tighten straight fittings (10) to 25 lb-ft (34 N·m).
• Tighten lift cylinder hoses and tubes (2 through 9) to
17 lb-ft (23 N·m).
• Refill hydraulic tank. (Refer to “Safety, Operation, and
Maintenance Manual” for oil specifications.)
• Start engine. Check hydraulic system for leaks.
Repair as necessary.
• Check hydraulic oil level and add if necessary.
