Rear Wheel Motor
3WD Rear Motor Removal and Installation
1.
Park the mower safely. (See “Park Mower Safely” on
page 1-6.)
2.
Remove rear wheel. (See “Rear Wheels” on
page 9-11.)

NOTES
• Label all hydraulic hoses before disconnecting to
ensure correct installation.
• Plug hydraulic hoses after disconnecting to prevent
the loss of hydraulic oil.

Disconnect hoses (1 and 2) at rear motor (3).
Remove two straight fittings (4).

Remove screw (5) and nut stop (6).
CAUTION

Loosen, but do not remove, the nut (7).

Loosen the wheel hub (

) from the motor shaft using
a puller.

Remove the nut (7) and wheel hub (

) from motor
shaft.

Remove key (9) from motor shaft.
9.
Remove four screws (10), lock washers (11) and nuts
(12).
10. Remove wheel motor (3) from steering yoke (13).
Installation Notes
• Install the rear wheel motor by reversing the order of
removal.
• Apply anti-seize compound to the motor shaft
threads. Be careful not to apply anti-seize compound
to the motor shaft.
• Tighten nut (11) to 288-302 lb-ft
(390–410 N·m).
• Check hydraulic oil level. Add oil as needed. (Refer to
“Safety, Operation, and Maintenance Manual” for the
correct oil specifications.)
4WD Rear Motor Removal and Installation
1.
Park the mower safely. (See “Park Mower Safely” on
page 1-6.)
2.
Remove rear wheel. (See “Rear Wheels” on
page 9-11.)

NOTES
• Label all hydraulic hoses before disconnecting to
ensure correct installation.
• Plug hydraulic hoses after disconnecting to prevent
the loss of hydraulic oil.

Disconnect hoses (1 and 2) at rear motor (3).
Remove two straight fittings (4).
4.
Remove cotter pin (5).
The wheel hub may move unexpectedly when
using a puller. To prevent injury and/or property
damage, do not remove the nut until the wheel
hub has been loosened from the wheel motor
shaft.
