The route overview icon displays
when a navigation route is active.
Touch this icon at any time to view
an overview of your navigation
route, or to change the orientation
of the map (see
140), which also zooms the map to
show the current leg of your trip.
The black pin at the end of the
route line represents your
destination.
Mute/unmute navigation volume.
Note: You can also mute the
volume of the navigation system by
pressing the scroll button on the
left side of the steering wheel while
navigation instructions are being
spoken. A volume control specific
to navigation instructions is also
available by touching the settings
on
page 140).
To stop navigating, touch CANCEL, located
below the turn-by-turn direction list.
Note: If a data connection is not available,
onboard maps allow you to navigate to any
location, but you must enter the location's
exact and complete address.
Automatic Navigation
Model X uses Automatic Navigation to route
you to a predicted destination when you get in
your vehicle. If you have an upcoming event
shown in a phone's calendar that has been
synced to Model X, your vehicle will
automatically suggest the location of the
event (if it has a valid address) when you are
preparing to drive within two hours of the
event start time.
In addition, if you are Home and get in your
vehicle on weekdays (Monday-Friday) from
5AM-11AM, Model X will automatically route
you to your predetermined Work destination
(see
Recent, Favorite, Home and Work
on page 144). If you are at work
on weekdays from 3PM-11PM, your vehicle will
automatically route you Home.
To enable Automatic Navigation, touch
Controls > Navigation > Automatic Navigation.
You must have your phone's calendar
correctly synced to your vehicle with a
uniquely specified and valid address for each
event. Your Automatic Navigation settings are
saved to your Driver Profile (see
on page 52).
Note: If you send navigation instructions to
your vehicle or input them manually, your
instructions override the suggestions of
Automatic Navigation.
I'm Feeling Lucky, Hungry
In addition to navigating to a destination of
your choice, your vehicle can also suggest
unique locations to visit near you. Touch the
navigation search bar and choose between
Hungry or Lucky. Hungry suggests popular
restaurants, whereas Lucky suggests popular
destinations (such as museums and
amusement parks). For a new suggestion, go
back and touch the Hungry or Lucky icon in
the navigation search bar again for different
results. Once you have discovered a place that
interests you, touch Navigate to proceed to
your destination.
This feature requires the latest version of
Navigation Maps. To download, connect your
vehicle to Wi-Fi and navigate to Controls >
Software to see if an update is available (see
on page 145).
Note: Due to market region or vehicle
configuration, this feature may not be
available in your vehicle.
Charging Locations
Superchargers always display on the map,
represented by red pins that you can touch to
display more information about the
Supercharger location, navigate to it, or mark
it as a favorite. When you touch the pin for a
Supercharger location on the map,
information about the Supercharger location
is displayed, including the total number of
Superchargers, the number of Superchargers
available, the address of the Supercharger, and
its approximate distance from you. The popup
also displays amenities that are available at
the Supercharger location, including
restrooms, restaurants, lodging, shopping, and
Wi-Fi.
