Front Panel
The front panel of the Spectra Optia system holds the pumps, sensors, and valves that are used to perform an
apheresis procedure. The components of the front panel are shown in Figure 2-2, and are described in Tables 2-3
through 2-5.

AC (anticoagulant) pump
Pumps anticoagulant from the AC container into the inlet line.

Inlet pump
Pumps anticoagulated blood from the patient into the channel.

Plasma pump
Pumps plasma out of the channel.

• Replace pump (exchange)
• Collect pump (collection,
depletion)
(Pump has a black dot on the
pump rotor.)
• Exchange procedures: Pumps replacement fluid out of the fluid container and into
the reservoir.
• Collection and depletion procedures: Pumps the targeted component out of the
channel or the chamber and into the collection bag or the reservoir.

Return pump
Pumps the contents of the reservoir to the patient.
