5.4 Removing Machine from the Low Loading Trailer
n
WARNING
Wear personal protective equipment.
Ensure all personnel are clear from the machine.
NOTICE
Removing the fastenings securing the machine and any loose items from a trailer is the
responsibility of the haulage contractor.
All control levers must be in the neutral (non-operational) position.
If using slides to raise the machine on to the trailer they must be anchored to the body to allow
the machine to be raised or lowered. The length of the slide must be such as to form an angle of
12°-15° with the ground. The ramp must be at least 4 times as long as the lorry loading surface.
The width of the slide must be at least 1.2 times the width of the tracks (480-500 mm).
Please pay careful attention to the choice of slides and their location on the lorry body; make sure
they are properly fixed and that there is no possibility of slipping during loading and unloading.
Ensure that the lorry has its parking brake on and apply wedges to the tyres to avoid any possible
slippage during loading/unloading.
In the winter, warm the engine and hydraulic system up first, before loading/unloading using slides.
When unloading the machine, the operator must always maintain a safe distance from the machine
in order to avoid any involvement should it tip up.
