Operations
This section describes the basic operations and uses of the unit. For detailed
explanation of how to use it, consult the user manual.
Power-on and Power-off Procedures
This describes how to apply power to the instrument, and how to power-on and power-
off the instrument.
Note:
This instrument can be powered by AC or DC power sources. If both AC and DC
power sources are connected, the MPS product uses the AC power source.
Note:
If the unit is powered on with two power sources, and you remove the AC
power source, the instrument might shut down and restart. This does not damage the
instrument. The instrument is not designed for a seamless transition between AC and
DC power.
AC Operation
Connect the power cord to the power connector on the rear panel of the instrument.
The power connector is keyed to be directional, with the flat portion of the power cord
housing facing the left of the instrument (as viewed from the rear). When fully inserted,
the power cord housing latches onto the instrument power connector.
CAUTION: To minimize the risk of damage to the instrument, we strongly
recommend the power cord be connected to the instrument before the power
cord is connected to the AC power source.
DC Operation
This instrument can be powered by a 12-amps continuous DC input or by a 14.4-volt
camera battery that is capable of 12 amps continuous operation. Operating the
instrument with a battery requires the MPS-PTBL accessory for the battery mount
bracket. If you are using a battery with this instrument, read the battery safety notices
carefully. Both the battery and the battery mount must be purchased separately.
