This chapter describes money-saving features that expand the functionality of your ECOTEL to include DTMF ser-
vices (two stage dialing) and callback capability. It is particularly useful for companies with employees who travel
often, because it eliminates expensive roaming fees.
In a two stage dialing scenario, the caller dials a number which the ECOTEL connects with the integrated DTMF
platform. He then enters the destination number via DTMF. The ECOTEL establishes the connection to the destina-
tion number.
Callback takes place, when the initial call is released and the calling party is called back in a second call as a re-
sponse.
Depending on your ECOTEL, various intelligent solutions as a call server are possible. The most important scenarios
and properties are described here. The scenarios can also be combined to suit your needs.
Announcements
Two stage dialing with DTMF
Callback with DTMF and OAD as callback number
Callback with DTMF and preconfigured callback number
Callback to OAD with predefined destination number
Callback with PIN and preconfigured callback number
Callback via SMS
To indicate that the number transmitted using DTMF tones is complete, the caller can press the # key. Otherwise,
there is a default timer set to 5 seconds, after which DTMF transmission will automatically end.
If a callback call is set up from the mobile network, the SIM card must be available 24 hours a day. We recommend
that you reserve a SIM card for this service. Otherwise, another call could block the call initiating the callback, which
would limit the effectiveness of the service.

The ECOTEL can recognize DTMF tones and use them to initiate calls. In the
pabx.cfg
, enter a virtual DTMF
controller, as described in Table 5.13 on page 58. The corresponding
Subscriber
entry contains the options:
TRANSPARENT ROUTER CHMAX[5]
The
5
refers to the maximum number of simultaneous channels used for DTMF recognition.
CDR entries for calls routed as callback with DTMF include the connection times for
the A and B parties. The times are separated by a slash (
/
). If no connection is estab-
lished to the B party, an entry recording the A party’s connection time is generated
in the
failed.log
file.
