Setting SCSI ID and Termination Power
The internal QIC drives allow you to set the SCSI ID by installing jumpers on a
pin block located at the back of the drive, and termination power by installing
jumpers on a pin block located on the underside of the drive.
For instructions on how to set the SCSI ID for an external model, refer to “Setting
the SCSI ID” on page 14. For instructions on how to access the termination
power pin block on an external unit, refer to “Removing the Cover from an
External Drive” on page 31.
Setting the SCSI ID
Pins 1 through 6 of the pin block JP1 located at the rear of the drive (refer to
Figure 8) set the SCSI ID. Installing a jumper over pins 1 and 2 sets a value of 1;
installing a jumper over pins 3 and 4 sets a value of 2; installing a jumper over
pins 5 and 6 sets a value of 4. The sum of these then determines the SCSI ID. It is
possible, therefore, to establish a value of 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7 using the settings
shown in Table 4. The locations of pins 1 through 6 is shown in Figure 8. The
default setting is noted by an asterisk (*).
