4 – Recording
Inputting and editing characters
Use the following operations to edit characters.
To move the cursor (editing position):
Use the
m
[
.
]/
,
[
/
] buttons on the main unit.
To change the character at the cursor position:
Turn the MULTI JOG dial.
To insert a space:
Turn the MULTI JOG dial to select SPACE, and press the
MULTI JOG dial.
To delete a character:
Turn the MULTI JOG dial to select DEL (when you want to
delete a character after the cursor) or BS (when you want to
delete a character before the cursor), and press the MULTI
JOG dial.
To delete all characters after the cursor position:
Turn the MULTI JOG dial to select DEL, and press and hold
the MULTI JOG dial.
To delete all characters before the cursor position:
Turn the MULTI JOG dial to select BS, and press and hold the
MULTI JOG dial.
To switch between uppercase and lowercase:
Turn the MULTI JOG dial to select Shift, and press the MULTI
JOG dial.
This also switches between numbers and symbols at the
same time.
To cancel editing:
Press the EXIT/CANCEL [PEAK CLEAR] button.
CAUTION
• You can also directly access SD and CF cards from a
computer to change the names of files, but doing so could
change the playback order of the files.
• Names that contain characters other than letters of the
alphabet, numbers and symbols cannot be edited. (Such
names cannot be shown on the
RENAME
screen.)
• The following symbols and punctuation marks cannot be
used in names.

NOTE
You can also use a USB keyboard to edit text. (See “Using a
keyboard to input text” on page 44.)
