Preset Valve Trouble Shooting
PROBLEM: The valve will not close completely.
A)
The shaft of the piston may be bent from excessive force.
B)
Debris may be located between the piston and piston guide.
C)
The upper or lower seals may be worn, swollen from incompatibility or cut from debris.
D)
The mechanical linkage to the Veeder

Root 7889 preset counter may be tight. The linkage must be loose for the
preset to operate correctly.
E)
The Veeder

Root preset may have a worn or bent trip mechanism that is not allowing the preset to function.
PROBLEM: The valve shuts immediately upon first stage trip, bypassing the second stage closure.
A)
The mechanical linkage might need to be adjusted, moving the Nylon locking nuts forward or backwards to change
the closing of the preset valve.

Root preset may need to be “raked” or adjusted for the correct shut
