Making an SOS call
In an emergency you can summon help by sending an ‘SOS call’ to
a predetermined location, usually your dispatcher. The radio then
cycles between receive and transmit, so that the called party can
hear any activity near the radio.
When the radio is in SOS cycling mode, the transmitted audio is
always from the radio’s internal microphone, regardless of
whether an external speaker-microphone is installed.
Depending on how your radio is programmed, your radio may
display no sign that an SOS call has been made and the channel
selector, PTT and other keys may be disabled for the duration of
the SOS call.
An SOS call may also be flagged as an emergency call, and take
precedence over other call types and existing calls on the network.

Ending an SOS call
