Media channels are provided by an MRC module, which is a daughterboard attached
to the
MCB Office card in piggyback fashion. The MRC modules provide the
following media channels.

Media channels are used to convert PCM calls to IP Packets and vice versa. Media
channels are also required when one of the calling parties is not an IP host. No media
channels are required for pure IP-to-IP connections (direct-connects).
