Upgrading Previous Versions of I/NET
If you are upgrading from I/NET 4.x or earlier, please refer to the
Upgrade
file located on your I/NET
2000
CD-ROM for detailed
instructions. The information in this section is
only
applicable to
I/NET
2000
system upgrades.
Note:
Before upgrading a Filemaster workstation to I/NET 2000 version 2.0
or later, ensure that the workstation is configured to use the Windows
NT 4.0 operating system with Service Pack 3 or later. The Windows
98 operating system is
not
supported for Filemaster workstations.
The data and AMT database files for version 2.0 are not compatible
with any previous version of I/NET.
You must convert the data files
on each host workstation before running this version of I/NET
2000. Once the workstation is upgraded, do NOT run I/NET 2000,
Configure, or the IO Server until all host workstations that equalize
files have also been upgraded.
A nonrecoverable data corruption
will occur if a workstation running version 2.0
or later
attempts to
equalize or otherwise read any unconverted files.
Follow the steps below to upgrade an existing I/NET
2000
system:
1.
Shutdown I/NET 2000 and/or Configure, if running.
2.
If necessary, shutdown I/O server. (Depending on the
settings in your configuration profile, I/O server may shut
down automatically.)
Note:
If your system configuration uses file equalization, it is important
that the I/O server be shut down,
and remain shut down
, until ALL
host machines have been upgraded and the appropriate files have
been converted to the new format.
3.
Backup the files on your host workstation. The files recom-
mended for backup are listed in
4.
Install I/NET
2000
using the installation instructions
. If possible, use the
default installation directory names.
